Willie for President!!

Willie Rocks the "Green State"!

I'm pretty certain I was the only kid in 4th grade that knew all the words to "Whiskey River". My father, having such eclectic musical taste, gifted us a childhood "soundtrack" that included a healthy mix of  "Waylon & Willie". What more could a kid ask for?

...And so the "soundtrack" to this life...continues. Willie & family performed to a packed house here in Oregon Labor Day weekend...and what a great show it was...as is usual! "Still is still movin" better than ever at 75! Incredible!

Nelson was in Salem Friday to celebrate the expansion of a biodiesel plant he's invested in. The singer and songwriter said Oregon was helping shape the national agenda for renewable fuels.

"This is a great day for Oregon, this is a great day for the nation, when once again Oregon shows the rest of the people how to go, where to go, how to think," said Nelson. "They are very progressive here."

In 2004, Nelson partnered with Bob King to help fund two Pacific Biodiesel stations, one in Salem, the other in Carl's Corner, Texas.

The SeQuential-Pacific Biodiesel plant in Salem was the state's first (and only) commercial biodiesel production facility when it opened two years ago and produces about 1 million gallons of biodiesel a year. The plant collects its feedstock - primarily used cooking oil - from restaurants and food processors like Burgerville and Kettle Foods.

Nelson has also formed Willie Nelson Biodiesel, or "BioWillie" - a company that markets biodiesel made from used vegetable oils and soybeans to truckers.

"Oregon has always been progressive in its thinking, and has been out front in every way about most major issues. This is just another example of Oregon setting a good example for the rest of the country," he said in a statement.

Where to Live Now...

When it comes to various ratings for this 'n that and the ultimate search regarding "Where to Live" and "Why" - Corvallis, Oregon frequents many a list. From Green living and outdoor recreation to education and safety - it would appear as though Corvallis has more than a few bragging rights...and rightly so. Well now... you can add yet another.

Personally, I think it smells like Pine trees and I kinda like that best of all...but what makes me most proud to be a member of this community - is it's vision...

We envision that in 2020 Corvallis will be...
"a community that honors diversity and is free of prejudice, bigotry and hate;"

referred to in the article below

'Outside' Magazine (August 2008)...
"20 Best Towns in America".
